The Medical Centre, inaugurated in September 2003, is located at Pazhaya Gudalur, a remote village in Nagai District of Tamil Nadu about 19 kms from the nearest town namely Mayiladuthurai. The Medical Centre is an out - patient centre catering to patients coming from some 30 villages in and around. On an average 250 patients visit the centre every day. A wide variety of pathology including common illnesses like flu and fever, diabetes, diabetic related cardiac and kidney problems, disorders of eye are treated with utmost care and concern.
Rare and complicated ailments are referred to higher centres of treatment and patients are guided throughout. A number of specialists visit Dr. G.S.Kalyanasundaram Medical Centre on a periodical basis. They include pediatricians, gynaecologists, diabetologists and eye care specialists. The centre has full time Medical Officers and a team of para-medical staff including a 24 hour senior matron residing in the hospital quarters.
The Medical Centre is spacious, well ventilated, always kept clean and has an in-house pharmacy dispensing medicines which is given at substantially subsidised rates or free. Every Wednesday of the week, the centre provides immunization vaccines for protection against various infectious diseases. Starting from September 2003 the Foundation has given free treatment to over 2,00,000 patients!
